All of our instructors have considerable experience in their subject, and are looking forward to your company over the winter months. You may be interested to know a little more about them:

Liz Simons..

the Principal of Trent Sea Training, has been our instructor for the all our courses for over 10 years. Liz started sailing dinghies in 2004 and soon progressed into yachting through the RYA Yachtmaster Scheme and offshore racing. In 2010 Liz sailed across the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans achieving the Yachtmaster Ocean Certificate of Competence. Liz has also sailed in 4 Fastnet races,(skippering one of these) plus the Sydney Hobart and Caribbean 600 Nm series of races and sailed non-stop round Britain and Ireland. She has now bought her own yacht Ceto, a Hanse 455

Tony Dawson..

has been our instructor for the Day Skipper course at Trent Sea Training since 2002 and was the Principal for TST until recently. Tony holds the Yachtmaster Certificate, enjoys cruising on the south and east coasts of England and in Europe, and is a regular dinghy sailor.

Nigel Thorpe..

travels to teach our VHF course from Dartmouth where he now lives and cruises his motorboat around the south coast. He was at one time the Principal of Trent Sea Training and has a wealth of experience making this course very enjoyable. He is also an examiner for the RYA VHF course.

Mike SisleyMike Sisley..

has been our instructor for the Coastal Skipper / Yachtmaster Offshore course for several years. He began his sailing by racing dinghies and now holds the Yachtmaster Certificate. A member of an offshore racing team drawn from Trent Sea Training graduates, Mike is a veteran of 3 Fastnet race campaigns and is a keen exponent of practical training to pass on his skills and experience.
