RYA Radar Course

Radar can be a most valuable navigation and safety aid on any craft, but only if the crew are experienced in setting it up to produce the best display then interpreting that information correctly.

The RYA Radar Course covers the basics of how a radar works, how to use the instrument controls to give clear targets, and then how to use those targets for safe navigation and to avoid collisions in the context of the Collision Avoidance Regulations.

Computer simulations provide exercises to allow students to practice the skills of radar operation. A course booklet is provided.

Course Type:
We offer this course over 4 Wednesday evenings or 2 weekends, making a total of 8-10 hours.

Pre-course experience:
Some sea-going experience is desirable.

Pre-course knowledge:
None required.

Outcome:
Successful students will be issued with an RYA Radar Course Completion Certificate.

Equipment:
None required.

Course Fees:
£50 inclusive of course booklet.
