RYA Day Skipper Practical
(sail only, in partnership with Dartmouth Yacht Club)
This is a beginners course in skippering. At the end, you should be able to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day in tidal waters with which you are familiar. It covers pilotage, seamanship, navigation and boat handling.
Course type: a five day course living on board a sail training yacht, starting and finishing in Dartmouth, South Devon.
Pre course experience:
ideally you should have been on a yacht at least five days, sailed over 100 miles, including about four hours during the hours of darkness.
Pre course knowledge:
you should have a grasp of the Day Skipper Shorebased theory
Outcome:
successful students will be issued with the RYA Day Skipper Practical course Completion Certificate
