RYA Coastal Skipper Practical
(sail only, in association with Dartmouth Yacht Club)
This course is intended to develop your skippering skills. At the end, you should be able to skipper a cruising yacht safely on coastal waters and offshore passages by day and night.
Course type:
a five day course living on board a sail training yacht, starting and finishing in Dartmouth, South Devon.
Pre course experience:
ideally you should have been on a yacht at least fifteen days, sailed over 300 miles, including about 8 hours during the hours of darkness. To gain the maximum benefit you should have some previous experience as a skipper
Pre course knowledge:
you should have a grasp of the theory up to Yachtmaster Offshore Shorebased
Outcome:
successful students will be issued with the RYA Coastal Skipper Practical course Completion Certificate
